Continental tires has tripled its man power in the region and focuses on Middle Eastern and Egyptian growth
Continental, the German premium tire manufacturer and international automotive supplier, together with TyrePro, the exclusive distributor for Continental in Egypt, have launched the VanContact AP at a key VIP launch event in Cairo. The newly launched tire range is set to provide improved load carrying capacity and greatly enhanced performance for the full-sized and utility van segment.
More than 150 attendants from fleets owners, dealers, VIPs and media gathered at the JW Marriott Hotel, Mirage City, Cairo last Saturday t to mark the launch of this high quality product. Guest appearances and speeches were given by Jon Ander García, Regional Manager Iberia and Mena for Continental, José Luis de La Fuente, Managing Director of Continental Middle East and Hisham Layali, President of TyrePro Egypt.
This new specialist tire range has been developed in line with the local market requirements in order to meet the increasing demand in the van tire segment in Egypt and deliver the best possible tire solution. VanContact AP is designed for hot climates and unpaved roads, featuring robust construction, durable pattern and intelligent compound – perfect for the Egyptian terrain. The tire’s toughness enables it to easily cope with poor road surfaces and heavy loads and offers better mileage performance through maximised wearable rubber volume, meaning longer tread life and fewer tire changes over the course of the vehicle’s life. Its specially reinforced carcass, sturdy sidewall and stone-deflecting tread design and the strong scuff protection strip on the sidewall make the tire a particularly robust load carrier.
“The VanContact AP tire range is well suited to the Egyptian terrain, not only due to its robust construction but also thanks to an improved reduction in rolling resistance. With less energy lost through the tires, the VanContact AP range will help improve a vehicle’s fuel efficiency. This offers yet another advantage to transport companies who run vans and for which speed, reduced costs and timeliness are key in the distribution business,” said José Luis de La Fuente, Managing Director Continental Middle East. “Middle East continues to offer significant opportunities for growth. The power of this region still remains to be explored and the potential is huge. We tripled the human resources to pursue our strategy which places Middle East in general, and Egypt in particular, in our core strategy for the years to come. The future is in front of us and we certainly expect the market to grow with significant rates on the long run.”
Commenting on the launch, Hisham Layali, President of TyrePro said: “We’re delighted to expand our Continental product offering by welcoming the new VanContact AP to our burgeoning portfolio. This new addition will offer our customers advanced tire technologies within the van segment in Egypt. We predict that this tire range will be particularly popular as it is well-suited to the local climate and road conditions.”
